Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

It’s no secret that I love urban fantasy and The Daughter of Smoke and Bone Series could potentially be the MOTHER OF ALL BOOKS in this genre.   Not only will each installment stretch your imagination to the fullest but the writing is lyrical and unlike anything you’ve read before in a YA novel.   Now you understand why this is my #1 pick for my debut W.o.W! Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #3) by Laini Taylor is expected to be released on April 8, 2014. ♥

dreams of gods and monstersFrom goodreads: By way of a staggering deception, Karou has taken control of the chimaera rebellion and is intent on steering its course away from dead-end vengeance. The future rests on her, if there can even be a future for the chimaera in war-ravaged Eretz.

Common enemy, common cause.

When Jael’s brutal seraph army trespasses into the human world, the unthinkable becomes essential, and Karou and Akiva must ally their enemy armies against the threat. It is a twisted version of their long-ago dream, and they begin to hope that it might forge a way forward for their people.

And, perhaps, for themselves. Toward a new way of living, and maybe even love.

But there are bigger threats than Jael in the offing. A vicious queen is hunting Akiva, and, in the skies of Eretz … something is happening. Massive stains are spreading like bruises from horizon to horizon; the great winged stormhunters are gathering as if summoned, ceaselessly circling, and a deep sense of wrong pervades the world.

What power can bruise the sky?

From the streets of Rome to the caves of the Kirin and beyond, humans, chimaera and seraphim will fight, strive, love, and die in an epic theater that transcends good and evil, right and wrong, friend and enemy.

At the very barriers of space and time, what do gods and monsters dream of? And does anything else matter?

This is my suggested reading order:

  1. The Daughter of Smoke and Bone (#1)
  2. Night of Cake and Puppets (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #2.5)
  3. Days of Blood and Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #2)
  4. Dreams of Gods and Monsters (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #3)

If my reading order seems a bit wonky, it is but trust me…it makes sense this way. ;)  But the most import question is, what book are you waiting on????

  1. says

Do I even need to say anything, LOL? And I’ll take your advice about the reading order (even though I’ve already read book 2, but hey! that’s what rereads are for). I’ll probably start Cake and Puppets some time this week ;)

    • Cristina says

You don’t need to say anything at all! LOL :) I read Suzana’s story after book 2 too and I can’t wait to see what happens in the FINAL book. GAH!! I hope Karou and Akiva find some sort of HEA!! ♥

  2. says

I haven’t read this series yet, but I have the first one. I really need to read them. I was waiting for the series to end so I could finally pick them up and read them back to back, lol. I’ll take your reading order suggestion. :)

Hi Nereyda! There’s been no sex in the first two books or the novella. I haven’t heard anything about the final installment. There is a certain level of violence but not like what you would see in Karina Halle’s books or Debra Anastasia. It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out. And I have yet to listen to an book on audio. I have Allegiant on audio but I’ve been holding off on listening because I hear it’s disappointing…oh well! ;)

I’m very much in the minority here. I’ve been attempting to get through the first book for quite a while now. I keep going back to it, but for some reason it’s just not keeping my interest. I fell in love with the covers first of all, just gorgeous!! I decided to go the audiobook route, so maybe that’s my problem. Maybe I should attempt reading it, rather than listening. Anyway, Happy Wednesday to you! Thanks for sharing! :)

This is the kind of book that you need to read for sure but take into consideration that I’ve never listened to an audio book before! *hangs head in shame* This series isn’t for everyone and it’s heavy on the fantasy which is one of the many reasons I loved it. And you have to be in the mood for this type of story. Thanks for stopping by Lisa! ♥

I’m dying for this book! My greedy hands can’t wait to hold this book…this series blew me away!!! :)

  4. says

I’m so behind with this series. :( I’ve only read the first book! I really need to read the second one before the third one is released so I can join the waiting hype. :)

    • Cristina says

Oh my god Sofia…you must read the novella next because it’s about Suzana (I love her) and the second book!!! If you loved the first one, these will not disappoint! :) And thanks for stopping by!

    • Cristina says

I’m seriously in love with this series and the novella is just as good. Wait until you read the second book…so good! It’s fantasy at its finest! ♥

    • Cristina says

Faye…you will LOVE this series!! It’s so different and I don’t have enough great things to say about it. The pacing, plot and characters are absolutely wonderful! :)
