More or Less?

Do you read more or less now than you did 5 years ago? 10 years ago? Or did you read more as a child?

I read more now than I did 5 or 10 years ago. According to my Goodreads stats, I’ve read almost twice what I read 5 years ago. I didn’t read much at all 10 years ago, since I had a toddler and another one on the way. I have a little more time now, plus my kids are older so they don’t need my constant supervision. Also, I make it a point to read more because reading keeps me sane, LOL! Seriously, for me, reading is a way of winding down & relaxing, especially for the night. And when things are too busy and too stressed, and I don’t have time to read much, I have withdrawals now!! I definitely read more than I did years ago.

I remember reading a lot as child, but I don’t remember exactly how much. It’s hard to hard to compare my childhood reading amount to now. I don’t think I read quite as much then, though. I definitely read more now than I did as a teen. Between school, homework, part time jobs, and spending time with friends and family, I didn’t have much free time for reading. I’d usually get bummed out by the school’s required reading, not as many fun books, LOL!!

So what about you – do you read more or less than before?

I read more now than I ever did before because I make time for it. Obvisouly, sometimes I need a break or have to spend time being social and whatnot *snickers* but for the most part, definitely more now. I read a lot growing up but in my mid-twenties I set it aside and what a mistake that was but luckily I found my way back to my books! *sigh of relief* And the best part of reading is being able to track it on goodreads and connect with other avid readers. *wink* ♥

Luckily you did find your way back to reading otherwise we wouldn’t have your fabulous blog!! Oh I love Goodreads! So many friends, recommendations, & reviews! But it does make it easier to add books to my ever growing TBR list — which is good & bad!! ;-)

I read a lot as a child/preteen/teen. It slowed down in college a little but has picked back up recently. Toddlers definitely hinder reading time! As does my sewing habit. But all these book to movie adaptations have spurred me on to read more than I probably would have. I hope ten years from now I am reading even more!

In ten years, I hope I’m reading just as much or more than now too! Yep, the book to movie adaptations have definitely helped, plus I have you as my book & movie buddy! ;-) My scrapbooking habit & some others get kicked to the side, & reading takes over, LOL! Thanks for stopping by!!

I never really read as a child. Me, I found it boring. I know! GASP! I think too as a child I found reading really hard to comprehend, different words, I had to go to this help study class for reading because of that and that I couldn’t really comprehend words and their meanings and such. I think it felt like reading stuff not being able to understand what I just read or give a summary of what I just read. I never found it enjoyable. But around 2008 I read a book loved it and it got me to read more and more until I’ve been reading 100 books a year and reading finishing a book in 1-3 days. It used to take me longer. I’m really glad that I gave it another chance b/c there’s no many of these books I read that I so needed in my life! I think I’ve slowed down a bit on my reading this year though.

Totally understable, if reading was a struggle then it definitely wouldn’t be enjoyable. So glad that you were able to give it another chance & it’s more enjoyable now! I’ve been trying to read 100 or more books a year too — I never knew or counted how many books I read until Goodreads (which thankfully tracks it for me)! Thanks for stopping by & I hope reading continues to be fun for you!! :-)

Aww thanks for stopping by! I definitely read more now, but I did read a lot as a kid. I remember getting the Laura Ingalls Wilder boxed set of books for Christmas one year — my parents thought it would last me awhile. I read them in a ridiculously short period of time!! Oh so many books, so little time!! :-)

Wow, 21 books a month?! That’s awesome! Definitely a lot! I’m not sure how many books a month I read — some weeks I read more & some less, it just depends. Thanks for the commenting & happy reading!! :-)
